I Used to Be A Sparrow
Life is Good
You’ll like it if:
– you need some good music to forget about a gloomy period
– dreamy pop makes your day
Today I’d like to draw your attention to a brand new duo, that seems to have what it takes to be of the new protagonists of 2012 indie pop. Waiting for the release of the debut ‘Luke’, I Used to Be a Sparrow, (Andrea Caccese and the Swedish songwriter Dick Pettersson) gives us the free download via bandcamp a really delicate and happy-go-lucky single, called ‘Life is Good’. I Used to Be a Sparrow gives us just a hint of its honest and forthright dream pop, in which Bon Iver and Sigur Ros meet up with Amycanbe and Pain of Being Pure at Heart (just with a less noisy approach). Instruments mix with synth and a delicate atmosphere, in which the chorus introduces us to such an intangible music, made of echoes and catchy lyrics – that will easily get stuck in your mind. More drums appear in the upbeat b-side ‘Mikkael’, in which choruses always provide to a dreamy atmosphere, blending in Cashier no.9 and the almost-folk tunes of Kevine Devine thanks to a special highlight to the interrelation of instruments and backing vocals. In a quite pleasant overdose of choruses and backing vocals Naked and Famous-esque, these tracks provide a quite respectable business card for this duo of talented musicians. Quite sure they won’t fall short expectations, in the meanwhile we can enjoy the single below.
