All I want for Christmas…is cheesy music?!

Dum Dum Crocodiles

Today I am going to write a slightly unusual post, mainly because today I want to babble on, otherwise, why would I have a blog, right? Especially now that Christmas is approaching, with its flashing lights, tasty and strictly no-guilty free food (I mean, have you ever had an English Christmas? Me neither, and I am utterly scared), cheesy music. Oh, the cheesy music. Thank you Mariah Carey. Here I come to save you from Last Christmas and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

For the ones who cannot see the bright side of Christmas: Glasvegas -No Her, No HYmN

Reverbs and gloom, a bit of wooz and a constant piano background. And James Allan’s vocals singing this rather sad lullaby. For all the Ebenezer Scrooge out there.

For the ones who will drown the festive atmosphere in mince pies and sparkling wine: Crocodiles & Dum Dum Girls – Merry Christmas, Baby (Please Don’t Die)

Fuzzy riffs, cacophony and hypnotic vocals screech with the Christmas vibe in the background. Genius.

For the ones who still love the cheese, but in small doses: Stylusboy – White Christmas

Acoustic female/male duo, a pleasant clash of vocals, minimal riffs and one of the Christmas classics, reinterpreted for all of us. In free download on bandcamp.

  1. The place I work at started playing Christmas songs mid-November, I’m losing my sanity there. The obvious cheesy ones are played, but there’s also trip-hop, smooth jazz and soul versions of Christmas carols too – they’re almost worse because it’s sounds so disjointed to mix cheese with those genres.

At least I have Reuben’s “Christmas Is Awesome” ( and Agoraphobic Nosebleed’s Christmas songs.
